This year’s Halloween was extra spooky! It fell on a Saturday, with a full “blue moon”, and a Daylight Savings time change. 2020 pulled out all the stops, and Mood Food decided to join in on the fun! Mood Food Wellness, Co. is a forward thinking wellness brand with the goal to make the connection between mood, food, and wellness.
Brimming with full moon Halloween energy, I attended Mood Food’s “Celestial Connection Workshop & Wellness Brunch”. This was my kind of Halloween party!
Melissa, founder of Mood Food Wellness Co., curated this witchy event to bring the local community together to learn about astrology and tarot, while enjoying healthy food, drink, and live music. This event was held at the beautiful historic bog side barn at Benson’s Pond in Middleborough, MA.

Mood Food Brunch
As guests arrived, we were welcomed by Melissa and given time to mingle, grab a drink at the non-alcoholic bar, and get some food before we took our (socially distanced) seats for the main event.
My drink of choice was the “botanical bubbles” – a non-alcoholic wine substitute by Rock Grace infused with crystals, botanicals, and adaptogens, topped with pomegranate seeds!
And let’s talk about the food!! Melissa made an absolutely delicious brunch spread of gluten-free, dairy-free, and refined sugar-free dishes. I will be raving about this food for a long time! Brunch consisted of avocado crostini, stuffed mushroom dip (my favorite!), harvest crunch salad, caramelized corn salad, and apple chai chia pudding. She has many of her recipes on her website. I will definitely be trying some of these at home!
Celestial Connection Workshop
As we settled in, Amanda from Astrology by Amanda educated us on astrology, and Mora from Indigo Lotus taught us about tarot cards. After Amanda & Mora gave us an overview of their respective topics, it was time for our private readings.
This is the part I was excited for! First, I had my birth chart reading with Amanda. Our birth chart is a snapshot of the sky at the moment of our birth. Each chart is the blueprint to the inner workings of our unique path and personality based on signs, planets, aspects, and houses. She described me perfectly without knowing me at all – it was crazy!
Next, I got my first ever tarot card reading from Mora. There are 78 tarot cards in a deck, and she uses three personally selected cards for each reading. Tarot readings are a tool to guide and discover information about our past, present, and future circumstances. I loved my first reading, and can’t wait to try it at home! Mood Food events were just what I was looking for!
Whether you fully “believe” in them on not, both astrology and tarot readings give us time to reflect on, focus on, and better understand the path of our lives.
During the individual readings, other guests got to enjoy live music by Adam Matthew Davis, sip our mocktails, finish our brunch (or go for seconds!), and wander outside to check out the beautiful surrounding cranberry bogs!
Mood Food Marketplace
Melissa also had a mini Mood Food Marketplace set up in the barn! If you haven’t checked out her online marketplace, Mood Food has an extensive supply of #moodfoodapproved products sourced from trusted vendors that use only the cleanest ingredients. All food products are dairy, gluten, and refined sugar free!
I snagged a Duxbury Saltworks sea salt sampler, Chill Bites & Detox Bites by SMPL, and a Everyday Tarot Deck + Mini Guide Book (awesome stocking stuffer!).
At the end of the event, we went home with a “goody bag” of sample Mood Food products!
Mood Food Events
This event was a blast! Being new to the South Shore during COVID, it has been hard to find any sort of safe, social gathering – especially with like-minded individuals. I’m so glad I found Mood Food events!
Mood Food Events are carefully curated wellness experiences that are created to be fun and nourishing while being educational and inspiring. Mood Food’s tagline “Gather. Nourish. Educate. Inspire.” is spot on! Melissa’s goal is to foster a community of like-minded and wellness curious individuals, and her social events aim to create positive associations with healthy choices. You don’t have to sacrifice health to have fun!
I would highly recommend that you follow @moodfoodwellness on Instagram and check out her upcoming events!
Gather safely!
